Obituary

Carol Lea Weise, 70, of Bellaire, Texas passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015. Carol was born on August 9, 1944 in Washington, D.C. to her mother, Iris Mildred Duke Weise and father, Irvin Benjamin Weise. Carol primarily grew up in Bellaire, Texas attending Horn Elementary, Jane Long Jr. High School and Bellaire Sr. High School, from where she graduated in 1962. She attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and graduated in 1968 from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science major in Mathematics and a minor in Education. Upon graduation, Carol became a mainframe computer programmer analyst in the days long before PCs, and continued to serve in this capacity for the medical industry before her retirement. Over the years, she performed programmer analyst functions for the Sperry Rand Corporation, Baylor College of Medicine's Institute for Lipids Research, Houston Methodist Hospital System and Sisters of Charity Health Systems, all in Houston.

After "retirement" from the corporate world, in her words, Carol became a "pecan farmer" and worked the property that her father bought and planted near Smithville, Texas. Carol was an avid outdoorswoman, and loved hunting and fishing with her family while growing up and as an adult. She was an avid spelunker as an active member of The University of Texas at Austin's Speleological Society during college and later became an avid skier with Houston's Space City Ski Club. Carol was a lover of animals and a big fan of the Houston Livestock Stock Show and Rodeo. Country and western line dancing became her favorite activity in later years.

Carol will be laid to rest at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston, Texas next to her mother and father. Carol is survived by her devoted and loving sister Linda W. Echterhoff and husband Lal B. Echterhoff of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, devoted and loving brother Stanley A. Weise and wife Kathy K. Weise of Waxahachie Texas, niece Olivia Medlock and husband Jarred Medlock, great nieces Jessica and Elena Medlock of Grapevine, Texas, nephew Spencer Weise and wife Sonya Weise, great niece Heidi Weise, and great nephews Drake and Chase Weise of San Diego, California.

There will be a private service for the family.
